Joke Books

Mon. November 17, 2008

It was called to my attention recently that some of my jokes have been published in a joke book called Squeaky Clean Comedy. If you’ve ever seen me perform, you will scratch your head wondering, “Since when do you have clean jokes?” I’m with you on that. I have yet to see which of my pearls of wisdom are in there. But the bigger oddity in this picture is who’s the target audience of that book? If you’re thinking kids, I have a much more influential book to recommend. One that helped my social skills of yesteryear. Wacky Insults and Terrible Jokes.

It has such gems as “Is that your head or is your neck blowing a bubble?” And “Is that your head or did they finally find a way to grow hair on a meatball?” Good luck finding a comeback to that one. Boo ya! Go figure the book’s been out of print since 1985. A generation or two is missing out! It is unclear to me if it is written by adults who really phoned it in, or by drunk children with impeccable spelling, but it really is worth a read.

We’re thru 3 of about 6 (hopefully) days of shooting my next short. If I don’t lose my mind first, we should have this puppy out sometime in December.

If The Onion were republican…

Tue. November 4, 2008

The Onion headline would read like the actual CNN headline:
Dixville has spoken: It’s Obama in a landslide

I hope we can all learn a thing or two from Dixville and the Dixvillans and make it a landslide.

And now that the election is underway, I feel a sense of relief. Maybe the economy will improve? Maybe rednecks can’t swing an election? Maybe I can actually start blogging again without getting weirdly righteous? Who needs more of that crap in the blogosphere, am I right? High Five.

I start production on my next short in a few days. Woo hoo!

PS I voted.
